Kyoshi Mohammed Babu began his martial arts journey in 1977 with training in Kalaripayattu under Gopinath Asan. He later continued his study of the art under Ali Gurukkal, Sreepathi Gurukkal, Abdulla Kutty Gurukkal (Palakkad), and the esteemed Bappukutty Gurukkal.
In 1982, he commenced his Karate training in the Shito Ryu style under Senpai Premlal and progressed up to brown belt. His deeper commitment to Karate began under the guidance of Kyoshi Moses Thilak in Chennai—a teacher-student bond that lasted until Kyoshi Thilak’s passing. Under his mentorship, Kyoshi Babu attained the 6th Dan Black Belt.
In 2003, he expanded his martial expertise by studying Kobudo under Hanshi S. Retinam and went on to receive a 6th Dan Black Belt in Shorin Ryu Shobukan Karate and Kobudo from Hanshi Gibo (10th Dan, Japan).
Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, in 2012, he earned his black belt in JKS Shoto Juku Shotokan Karate from Sensei Sudeep. He currently continues his training under Sensei Ishikawa and Sensei Mizuguchi, maintaining a lifelong dedication to the martial arts.
